I thought the .308, .243, .22-250 mags were all the same.
From what I can gather, if I install a 22-250 barrel on a 308 short action with double feed internal mag box, it might feed ok. Then again, it seems it might not. Am I correct in assuming if I run into issues with feeding I simply drop in the shorter box and follower?
If that is the case, anyone have the part number for the 22-250 box and follower? Or where can I find those numbers, please?

I am not sure, which is why I am asking. I "thought" the 22-250 had a somewhat shorter mag box, but I could easily be wrong!
The magazine boxes are the same length. What is different about the 22-250 now, is the feed lips are oriented differently, being more narrow front to back.
The 243 and 308 are identical to each other, and only slightly wider than the 22-250. The difference is slight, but it does make a difference.

The 22-250 and the 243/308 magazine boxes are all the same length. The feed lips on the 22-250 magazine are slightly longer to assist the shorter 22-250 casing to get into the chamber before it runs out of the magazine guidance.

I know a 308W functions just fine in a 22-250 mag box. I don't know about going the other way - but I would bet it would be fine. Luck, Tim
Thanks to all who responded!
I actually had them side by side the other day and couldn't see the difference. I was afraid I would get them mixed up. There are no caliber-specific markings on my Axis .22-250 DBM.
