Nice looking stick. The results speak for themselves. Looks like a keeper to the say the least :-)
I bought a new fcp 308 took it out of the box and took it apart.
I bedded the action , installed a SSS trigger and 9rd mag , polished the feed ramp, bolt rails , sent the bolt off to Kampfeld custom to have it fluted and installed a Leupold MK4 3.5-10x40 M3 scope.
I got everything back together and did the Tubb Final Finish to the bore and took it to the range today to see if all the trouble was worth it

And after getting the rifle sighted in I was rewarded with this.

The biggest group of the day was just under a 1/2 inch !!!!!

Can't complain about groups like that!

I kinda wish I would have fired it before I did all the work and before the Tubb final finish treatment just to see if it made a difference
Obviously something is very wrong with that rifle. Most of the bullets didn't even make it to the target as is clearly evident by the lack of bullet holes. You should dump that rifle immediately. Being the nice guy I am I will gladly take that poor shooter out your hands in exchange for one that will give 5 distinct bullet holes every time so you don't have to worry about if the bullets made to the target or not!!! Please send me your mailing address and I start the transaction..... ;D ;D ;D
Great looking rifle and it looks like a shooter, tiny Oh and I am serious about that trade thing.......
Your offer is tempting but I will suffer with these one hole groups...LOL
Being the newbie on the block, can you refer to a link that discusses the Tubb Final Finish or maybe just comment on this process??
http://www.davidtubb.com/ Not a hard search. If your barrel is a hand lapped product, even he is saying just shoot it.

I agree if you have a custom barrel you probably will not need the tubb final finish but it does help a factory barrel by making it easier to clean and it uniforms the bore as well as polishes it .I can't say that it makes it shoot better but you can tell ( In my case anyway) it does not seem to hurt.
Nice setup..wish i had the extra $$$ to do that with my FCP. So where did you find that 9 round magazine???? love to have a couple of those.
Ken
Ditto on the 9rd mag. Where did you get it?????
Have the same rifle with the same results.
It looks like the SSS extender for the stock magazine.http://www.sharpshootersupply.com/Magazines.html
Trouble? What trouble?! ;Dtook it to the range today to see if all the trouble was worth it
