If it's closing well and you don't have to really crank on it to get it to close I think it's just the noise.
Can't really tell you much with out it being in my hands.
Run it on over to Ontario and I'll have a look.
hello everyone, Nova Scotian here from Canada eh.
i just got my hands on my first gun, its a 308 savage 99e leaver action rotary mag. i love my gun, nothing really special about it. but i have noticed that when cycling the gun it is very loud. like something is sticking, it is loudest and stiffest when the leaver is about half way up and is sliding the bolt into the chamber.
im wondering if this is just how they work or if there may be something jamming up in mine.
thanks
cheers

Savage- "never say never".
It kinda depends on the hammer spring. Some are a bit stroger as they were hand wound and when you cock it and close it,it will make noise period.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
Check this thread: http://www.savageshooters.com/showth...ficult-To-Cock
Resistance when the bolt is halfway home is normal. You are compressing the main spring. Opposite from most lever actions where the hammer is cocked by the opening of the action.
Yes, the Savage 99 rattles and clatters. Pretty much normal.
