Nice lookin' rifle.
Nice find.
After purchasing 3 AccuStock Savages in 2 years; I said there would probably be no more. Too hard to divide shooting time between the the three as it is. Then, I walked into Cabelas, last weekend, and found some Model 111 sporters, with grey laminate stocks, on close out. Savage made these for Cabelas, in 257 Roberts, 25-06, 270, and 30-06. They originally retailed for $489. They had the remaining 270's and 30-06's on close out for $349. Even though I pretty much just punch paper these days; I have tremendous respect for the 30-06, so, I bought one. I put a Nikon Prostaff 4-12 BDC on it. Here's the rifle:

One day, I'd like to shoot an elk with it. Its sure a pretty rifle with the grey laminate. Good thing they didn't have any of the .257's left!
Nice lookin' rifle.
Nice find.
That looks sweet! $349 for that rifle is an absolute steal.
How do you sleep at night?GRIN
I have the same rifle in .257 Roberts :P
also thats the NEWER model of the exclusive. The older model had a gloss blued finish to it.
Monday evening, I bought reloading components for it - Lee Deluxe Die Set, bullets, brass, Hdy modified case, etc. First bullet to try is the Hdy 168 AMax.
What a deal for a perty rifle.
Good luck with your new toy.
Aaaahhhhh... the '06.
My favorite caliber. Which is why I'm wauting on a barrel to build another one.
'Scuse me while I whip this out...!
Years and years of looking over reloading data - with the huge range of bullets - never ceases to amaze me about the versatility of the 30-'06. Its old, its a classic; may not be a master of all trades, but, it comes very close in every application.....all with tolerable recoil. I have a huge amount of respect for this cartridge.
