There is a step down in diameter in front of the nut.
Other than the shorter barrel nut how can one be sure that a 300wsm is a large thread action. The picture I am seeing is not definitive.
There is a step down in diameter in front of the nut.
LARGE SHANK TARGET= 1.120" breech
SMALL SHANK TARGET= 1.055" breech
.223 Rem AI, .22-250 AI, .220 Swift AI .243 Win AI, .6mm Rem AI, .257 Rob AI, .25-06 AI, 6.5x300wsm .30-06 AI, .270 STW, 7mm STW, 28 nosler, .416 Taylor
And this is what I have to go by.
If that rifle has the original factory barrel on it and it is a WSM, then it is a large shank. It is definitely a newer rifle and Savage quit with the small shank WSM when they started the large shank, multiple years ago.
Your right! That is the newer smooth nut and it is a wsm. Thanks everyone.
