Hy glad to see you came over someone here will chime in on this soon as there are many petty's here ;-)
I am looking at buying a 10/110 preditor max 1 in a 6.5x284, the problem is that i want to put it into a stock similar to a McMillan A-5 adj, but from what i am hearing the accustock models are hard to find replacement stocks for! So the question is does anyone know where to find something similar to what i am looking for to fit that action or should i be looking for a different model? Keep in mind i am a left handed shooter! Thanks for all your help!

haha yes sir thank u for the tip
The only difference will be the recoil lug. it is narrower for the accustock.
This is an accustock lug:
compared to this non-accustock lug:
What about the bolt release in the trigger guard? I have read that too is that going to be a big problem? and can i buy the normal lug from savage?
I believe (someone will correct me if I am wrong) that the bolt release in the triggerguard doesn't limit the stocks. With the right side bolt release, some stocks need a little material taken off to make a space for that.
I presume that Savage sells the lugs. The photos I used came from MidwayUSA.com which sells both types. I would also presume that Northland Shooter Supply, an advertiser on this site might have them as well as the "usual suspects" like Brownells, and Sharpshooter Supply, perhaps Numrich Supply also.
I saw the ones that were on midway. I am new to this so really dont know how they work, it just fits between the action and the shoulder of the barrel... correct? so to make the change i would just have to buy the $12 part and get the barrel unscrewed replace the lug and screw it back in?
The barrel does not have a shoulder that's what the nuts for ;-) the lug goes between the barrel nut and the action
and of course the barrel would need to be headspaced!
Okkkk that makes sence! I found a stock at that Sharpshooter supply and email them, it is the closest i have found to what i am looking for that is made for the rifle, that is a good website!
I believe that you could take your action out of an accustock and then put it into an aftermarket (non-accustock) stock without changing the recoil lug. The lug would be narrower but I don't think it is any deeper/longer. If you went from a non-accustocked rifle and put it in an accustock, you would need to either change the shape of your recoil lug (mill, grind, sand, file, etc..), or replace it with the narrower recoil lug.
So your saying that it doesnt matter i can just take any stock that fits a normal savage 110 (since it is a long action) and put my action in it without shaving the stock or anything? does the 10/110 take a model 10 stock if short action and 110 if its a long action?
That is exactly what I am saying. In fact, I just tried it. My short action Savage model 10 accustock action fits just perfectly (and functions) in my non-accustock Stevens 200 short action stock. I did not swap the plastic and metal trigger guards, and that could require minor fitting, but that is to be expected any time you change trigger guards.
On the flipside, is it possible to install an accu-stock spec recoil lug on a non-accustock model and be able to run an accu-stock?
FTR in 223, BA LE Tactical in 308, 110 Flatback in CBI 6mmBR Norma, Others
Yup. although you might have to inlet the stock for the side bolt release lever.
ok well that is good news i thought that i was stuck with buying a different stock then the one that i really wanted
