I don't see 3031 listed for the 300 WinMag. It's too fast of a propellant. I think you need to be looking more towards 4350 & slower.
If you can find a published reduced load for it you can use it, otherwise don't.
Hey all,
I am going to start reloading my new 300 win mag soon. I have a good deal of IMR 3031 sitting around for favorite 308 load. my question is, What would be the starting load in a 300 win mag with IMR 3031 shooting 168 grain nosler ballistic tips? It doesn't seem to be in my reloading manual anywhere...
Thanks!
Jordan

'Scuse me while I whip this out...!
I just looked on HandLoads.Com & the powders I'm seeing are slow like 4831, RL22, 4350 & so on...
3031 is definitely too fast

here's a place to get some info. use this info wisely!

I just looked on the Nosler site & even they're showing powders like 4320, 414, 760 and so on. I have a full can of 3031 from loading for the 30'06 & I never had much luck with it.
I ended up using 4350 for it. It liked slower powders too.
Use caution and not the powder!.....
