I've spent a couple of hours reading through a number of threads on the subject, which I guess I should have done before starting one of my own.

Some bits and pieces:

The "E" designated rifles most likely have 4.522 action screw spacing, which makes them 1st generation short actions, also referred to as "intermediate short actions"

My reason for wanting to know about a 110 E was whether or not the action was as suitable as a modern Savage action for building an accurate rifle. It sounds as if the oddball spacing makes it somewhat of a challenge to find an aftermarket stock for. The most notable exception being Boyds. I'm okay with the factory wood because I'd like to play around with DIY camo paint. Most posts I read seemed to indicate this action is suitable to build upon.

I see these "E" rifles for sale from time to time; and usually at a very good price.

Just wondering is all :)

Thanks
