tighten your trigger adj. up a little
drybean
I have the Savage Model 10 tactical carbine in 308 that is about a year old. It has about 150 rounds through it and as worked fine up to last weekend. Now when closing the bolt the firing pin does not "set." It just assumes the fired position. When it does so the trigger locks up tight so that even the blade can not be depressed. It does this even if there is no cartridge in the chamber. I am able to remove the bolt without trouble. Any thoughts?

will do
Now, I have not adjusted my trigger. All is as it was from the factory.
The trigger can get out of adjustment and need to be tightened a bit is what drybean is saying. Doesn't matter if you have ever adjusted it or not. It is just one of the little quriks with a savage. Most of the time it only takes one or two adjustments and it will set and quit moving.
