lol in the sun or shade? what wind speed? what caliber? what rate of fire? You have only supplied 3 of the variables. LOL
On a 70 degree day with standard loads, how many shots would it take before yoiu would heat up a Mod 25 Walking Varmint?

204 ruger, no wind, in the sun. Just a nice day at the range taking your time shooting at paper.
6 to 10.....just guessing. I have one in .223 and mine gets pretty hot after about 10 rounds at 3650fps with 40grain vmax. THe .204 is pumping quite a bit more down the barrel, so it may take less. I usually shoot 3 round groups an let it cool completely if I'm punching at paper.
no set amount its too hot when it starts to walk do some testing on your own will give you a ballpark number.
Let's put it this way. I developed some great loads for my silhouette XP in PA. Moved to TX, and the first silhouette shot I THOUGHT it was shooting a little stiff. Than there was a boom, and the bolt was frozen shut. So, no set rule, but yes, it can happen with temp changes, etc, etc.
