What? Really, cant wait to see what they will offer.
I heard that Rock Creek is going to start offering Savage Pre-fits later this spring.
I don't know if they are going to be cut rifled, button rifled, or both.
Glad to see a premium barrel maker step into the pre-fit market.

Well, at least we know that they can make decent .223 barrels.
uj
Was hoping he'd offer them in the GB but excited to see them coming none the less!!
Mike Rock said he won't make a button rifled barrel, so I would assume they are going to be the only cut rilfed barrel maker offering savage pre-fits, SMART MAN.
I emailed him to see if the rumor is true or not. We shall see
Besides Brux and Kreiger anyway. There maybe more, but those two came to mind right away.Originally Posted by jsthntn247

Here is a quote from Paul of Rock Creek barrels in the Button Barrel group buy on SH.

Let me know if I missed something. I know SSS sells the Brux barrels and they are ready to go.
Has anyone here ordered a pre fit barrel from Kreiger? I did not know they offered them, I would like to get one of these, I always thought you had to send them your action, did not know they would just ship you a pre fit barrel, going to call and get one ordered, guessing the wait time will be long though.Originally Posted by JackinSD

Benchmark makes cut rifled pre-fitsOriginally Posted by jsthntn247
Krieger does not offer a pre-fit, yes they make barrels for those actions but that does not mean its a pre-fit.Originally Posted by JackinSD
Benchmark only makes buttoned rifled barrels. If brux makes a prefit cut rifle from the factory, they are the only one doing it. Sure seems allot of confusion on who makes cut rifled barrels and who makes prefits.
VjjR,
Thanks or clearing it up and the correction.
Brux does not make a prefit. They did for a short while, but suspended to keepnup with production.

My guess is that when it comes from SSS it will be prefit. I haven't checked but......Originally Posted by geargrinder
Any smith can turn any barrel blank into a Savage prefit. What we are talking about is directly from the barrel manufacturers.Originally Posted by JackinSD

I understand that very well. I am saying that it will come to (you) the end user all ready to go (pre-fit), not having to find the smith after you receive the barrel. Isn't that what you and I as consumers are concerned with?Originally Posted by geargrinder
Back to the original post. Rock Creek and Pre-fits.
I think getting the barrels from the manuf is cheaper. A savage prefit from Shilen is 370. A preturned blank from Shilen is 280 and I have to ship it to a smith, most smith charge about 200 to finish the barrel and shipping back, which is roughly 480 - 500 I would think rock barrels offering the prefit direct to someone like Northland would be ideal and it would save a bunch of money for me and it would save rock barrels from the additional work load.
Here is the email that I got from rock creek barrels today.
Nathan,
Yes we are going to offer Savage prefits in both cut rifled and button
barrels. $450 for cut rifled and $325 for button barrels. Probably going
to just offer the two target contours to start with both the large and
small shank versions.
These are the calibers we are considering for now.
.223REM
.22-250
6mm BR
.243 Win
6X47 Lapua
6.5X47 Lapua
6.5Creedmoore
.260 REM
6.5X284
7WSM
7MM Rem mag
.308 Win
.300 Win
.300WSM
.300 blackout
.338 Norma
.338 Lapua
Paul Tolvstad
Rock Creek Barrels
And another one I got today
Question was about reamers not on the list and when they will be up for order.
Nathan,
It would depend if I have the reamer around the shop, otherwise we would
have to order one, the customer pays half the price of the reamer and we
keep the reamer.
We will be taking orders as soon as I get all the reamers in that we
ordered. Probably gonna be June sometime.
Yea for some reason I was thinking benchmarks were cut. Excuse me.Originally Posted by jsthntn247
