A replacement bolt from Midway should work fine. If it's chambered for the 30-06, 270, 308, etc. A .473" bolt head is what you want. If it's a belted magnum I believe the bolt head is .532". The .223 is a .378 bolt head. HTH
Good morning,
Just picked up a Savage project rifle sans bolt and needed some help dating to ensure I pick up the right one. I tried using the "parts finder" on the savagearms website only to see that they do not provide support for serial numbers pre F498821. My serial is F4307XX. My googlefu seems weak today, so I'm hoping that one of you fine folks can help. My main thing is that I just want to ensure that a current 110 LA bolt off of midway or somewhere will work with this action. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

GlassBeaver - I don't know if it'a any help to ya....
I have a 110 that's numbered about 3500 HIGHER than your serial number and mine is a 1997 model.
Try calling Savage. You can get their number from the Savage site & ask them. That's how I found out the date on mine....
I spoke with a young lady that was most helpful with a real lousy attitude & absoluely NO sense of humor.
Have a go at it.

Help dating a Savage? What, you are afraid she will say no when you ask her to go to the range with you? All you can do is ask!
Sorry, just couldn't help myself this morning!

Whatever you do don't put a ring on it or it will stop putting out immediately......
There used to be a spot on the boards that would give you the date of manufacture, you'd just send an email with your serial # - took some time for a reply.
Na, he just wanted a little "action" ;DOriginally Posted by fgw_in_fla
I wondered just how far this was going to go before we got to the action part.... ;D

Wanted to go there but didn't, glad I can count on the rest of you to say what I'm thinking.
