If you can pony up 100 dollars more, look at the Weaver 3-15x EMDR. Its got all the features of a scope costing over $1000 dollars for $700, Its what I use and I have no problems hitting out to 1000yrds with it. Here it is on SWFA:

If you go to WWW.swfa.com look at thier SS scopes many people swear by them and at $300 for a fixed power with crystal clear glass they are the best unknown bargain out there.

Retired sniper. You can run, But you will only die tired!!!
When getting a scope for 1000y usage you will want something that has plenty of internal elevation. This will usually be the 30mm tubes but some of the 1 inch tubes will have enough.
You also want repeatability unless you plan on using it solely for one distance.
If you have a rifle that has plenty of recoil, be aware that most scopes will have shorter eye relief as the magnification is increased.
Another issue to be aware of is that most scopes now days have rather short tubes. Check the length of the tube unless you have off set bases.
I have been using a Leupold Vari-X II 6-18X40 AO Target with fine crosshairs for several seasons. It's a great scope with lots of good qualities and priced around $500.
The fixed power Weavers are also fine scopes.
Millett LRS 6-24X 25mm tube and Side Focus.
Thanks for the info but I don't know if my old eyes will see anythine at 100yd with a low power
Sightron SIII 8-32X56, Has 70moa of adjustment, great glass, precise parallax, turrets are repeatable and track correctly. I like mine a hell of a lot better than the 6-24 ffp vortex PST I was sitting behind last weekend.
I have used a Millet Buck Gold 6-25x56 for all of my rifles. I have enough elevation to go from 100 to 1000 with a .223. They are great reliable scopes for the money. You can find them new for $350-$450 depending on the seller.
What caliber is your rifle so we can look at the drop to 1000 yds?
Dang near anything you get will be better than what you have now
Amen brutha.... I renently purchased a new Sightron SIII 8-32x 56mm in the 1/8"/click LRTD. Finally got it out today for it's first zero and run (on my model 12 LRPV .308 with CBI barrel). Man I am so pleased. A much better scope than my previous Sightron (the SII 36x fixed 44mm target dot).Originally Posted by calling4life

+1 for the Sightron SIII 8x32, just returned from a prairie dog hunt, and with that scoop we could clearly see prairie dogs beyond 1000yrds, very clear glass with great resolution.
for great prices on sightron s111

Hey Drybean, after looking through a friends new SIII 8-32x56mm I just "needed" a better scope for my aging eyes and 6mmBR. I'd been trying to decide between the SIII and Vortex PST for several weeks when I saw an earlier post in which you mentioned bigsupplyshop.com. So I pulled the trigger and ordered the SIII 6-24x50 with MOA-2 reticle for $773 shipped to my door. Did a little shooting this past weekend and all I can say is WOW! Great glass with perfect tracking and solid side focus. So +1 for SIII and bigsupplyshop.com. Thanks for the lead.
If you can manage a little extra bigsupplyshop.com has the Bushnell Elite 4.5-30x50 for less than $700

I paid more than that for mine and thought I got a great deal, it is an amazing scope for less than $1000
