Its up to you. Me personaly, I would, the only thing it is designed to do is hold the recoil lug aginst the stock, the same thing is achieved when you assemble the gun with the but plat down, and the muzzel up, so that gravity hold the recoil lug aginst the stock, when you tighten the screws down. If you do keep it, just use light tension on the screw, as I found that the more that it is torqued the more bind it places the action in.
