Thank you.....thank you....thank you.
So pillar bedding "must" include action bedding. Maybe I have those reversed.

Thanks again to all the members here who generously shared their knowledge. I finally had a chance to take my flat-back Savage 110 out for a spin. I had some loads from September worked up with 168gr SMK's. Since first pillar and action bedding, I got rid of the plastic trigger guard and bought a steel one from Midway. I also cleared the tang area and sealed the stock. This has a used standard hunting barrel I bought and had installed for $50. I torqued the front action screw to 45inlb and the rear to 35inlb.
Here are the threads I posted earlier...

After bedding, sealing the stock and clearing the bedding from the tang. I also changed my plastic trigger guard to a steel one...
The cold bore shot was the one at 12 o'clock. The next 3 clustered neatly. Disregard the 223 at the upper right. I forgot which target to shoot at.

Good thing we can tell the difference between the two hole sizes ;D It appears that the bedding under the tang was causing some flex in the action when everything was tightened down. Glad you got it figured out.

well, my wood stock originally had no metal at all so I bedded some brass pillars in the front and rear. After the pillars were bedded into the stock, I bedded the whole action.Originally Posted by 1jonzmith

Looks like you did a good job.Your first target looked like a shotgun pattern. The new target looks super!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Job.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
Thanks. This is the first time I've ever grouped 3 shots so close together consecutively. I believe those three shots measured .41"
