Very nice work. How well does that setup feed rounds?
About a year or so ago I bought a F/TR stock in here for my Stevens .223AI. I decided to bed my action to this stock yesterday. I already run all my bench guns as a single shot so I wasn't worried about putting a target action stock on my Stevens. I built a single shot follower out of cork and used double sided tape to attach it to the stock. I decided to bed completely over all of it so I won't ever have to worry about it. Here are some pics...

Thanks!! It feeds excellent! The follower is just a few thousandths lower than the bolt head so its as simple as drop the round and push the bolt in.

Those pictures do not give that beding job justice. It is one of the best beding jobs I have ever seen done. I am planing to do the exact same thing to my .243 when I get it put back together.
What did you use to bed with?
Looks like it's either Devcon or J&B.Originally Posted by mcmccurter

New to beddding: On the recoil lug, do you just put release agent on it and bed it into the stock? Or is there slack required for any reason?

It is bedded with Devcon. From what I read on here (I did a LOT of reading before I attempted it ) I put the release agent on the action and the rear part of the lug that contacts the stock. I put 2 layers of masking tape on every other side of the recoil lug. This gives the rear of the lug and only the rear solid contact.

Did you find any good detailed instructions?

There is a really good article on the main page about bedding. If you do a search on here you will find enough information to make your head spin. I took a lot of advise (from my FIL) and how others did theirs and combined all of the good knowledge :D

looks good , my last one i did that way but just used extra devcon for the follower and it fed great as well.
Thanks!
