don't think ANY rimfire action would be up to even Hornet pressures let alone getting the fireing pin in the center. just my .02 cents.
curious to know if it would work....anybody done it? what all would it take to go from a 93 in 22 mag to a 22 hornet? Thanks!

Well the Savage model 40 action was pretty similar to the 93 but other issues are bore diameter (224 for the modern Hornet vs. 223 for rimfires), the centerfire firing pin, etc.
I would just buy one of the model 40 single shots or wait for the model 25s that are comming out.
Savage actually made a 93 in 22 hornet for a year or two. I heard they quit making it due to action issues since it was designed for a rimfire (not sure if it was pressures or stiffness of action..). I would assume the bolt would be very different since the firing pin would be centered like mentioned before.
I bought a model 25 in 223 and have since bought a Stevens in 30-06. And I just can't see myself spending double the money of the Stevens for the model 25. Now if the model 25 had a barrel nut. May be a different story for sure....Originally Posted by Eric in NC

I've heard rumors that the new 25's will have a barrel nut...?? Haven't seen a new one though.
hmm, that is sad. I cant say I'm a fan of how the mod 25 looks.....looks are not everything but sure are a plus....so my other option is a mod 40? Thanks for the input fellas i appreciate it!
Henry.
you dead set on a 22 hornet?? could always go with a build your own approach, from the classifieds/vendors here. or go out and grab another barrelnut-ed Savage and BYOG???Originally Posted by henry1

I am set on the hornet....haha would like to build a bolt to replace my single shot. I already have the brass and dies...do you think that it would feed in a short action?
+2, a no go for safety reasons and the rimfire bolt.Originally Posted by MaDa

Ok, so far, the RF is out as well as the 25...what do you think of using a short action? Would it cycle? I feel like it could have feeding issues....I may end up the owner of a new rifle... well someday
I don't think the 10/110 series has a bolt head to fit the Hornet so a BH would be a custom proposition (expensive) and rimmed cartridges won't feed well (if at all) from a Savage mag box (as you've already suspected). Single shot may be the cheapest route.

well shoot...i guess savage is out of the question then...i may have to invest in a CZ at some point in life. Thanks for all the help fellas! I appreciate it!
