Right then!

So yesterday I looked @ a 93R17 TR that was in stock @ Academy Sports

I usually buy only from my LGS...unless he can't get something from his supplier. This was the case w/ getting me a is 93R17 TR. Supplier was out. I considered waiting until tomorrow to go back to Academy Sports.

But that voice in the back of my mind said: "Get there @ lunch time today, or it will be too late!"

I went back @ noon today. The display rifle was the very last one! Every now & then Lady Luck grants me a small indulgence. ;D Yes, I had to do the 'Walk Of Shame', but the kid and his manager were very nice.

I wanted to use a set of Burris Signature Zee rings (low) and a 36X Tasco (Japanese made) scope. The Savage-Supplied 'Weaver-style' bases were a tad low for this combo. Besides the look of the Savage-Supplied bases left me cold!

I swapped them out for a set of Weaver # 16 bases I had in my parts stash and a set of brass .032 thousands shims under the Weaver 16's. This gave a good 1/8 inch clearence between the objective and the barrel.

I removed the 3 sling studs so I can bench it tomorrow.

I really like the 'All Business' look if the gun. The heavy fluted, counterboared barrel, the Tactical bolt handle, the Tacticool type stock and the flat finish.

The action screws were just barely snug! I brought them up to 12 " lb.

The accu-trigger is crisp, w/o creep, and already light. :) I tried the trigger w/ a snap-cap in place. I didn't put my trigger guage on the accu-trigger yet. I'll wait untill after the first range session. The bolt moves very smoothly.
