    1952 Savage 99 Carrier Assembly - Have you seen this before?

    Good Afternoon!

    I am initiating a 2nd topic concerning the same Savage 99 I had questions about.

    I currently have the rifle apart to thoroughly clean it and noticed the carrier assembly has a split or notch carrier body in which the carrier spring tail is retained. I was informed that the spring tail typically fits in a small retaining hole at the end of the carrier body    . Interested to see if anyone has seen this before. Please see photos.
