the us navy used them because THEY WERE AVAILABLE FOR TESTING, NOT ENOUGH BERGERS ON THE SHELF.
so the navy round he speaks of will lock up a stnd 300 win mag action.
the load is 3.5" not 3.34, the mil does not reload, a case full of h1000. the use a stiller custom action not a savage.
and a 26+" lilja bbl.
OHHH AND 68KPSI NOT SAAMI 65KSI
and a custom 300 wm reamer( i own one)
none of this is a kit gun made from off the shelf parts.
i have one, i shoot both the std mk248 mod1 (220) load, and i shoot
230 bergers even faster with reloader 26.
i also just built a 300 wsm...target rifle
300 wsm is much better in a long action...bullet choice does not impact powder volume.

there is a die made for sizing belted mag brass at the belt..then it lasts a long time.

A 220gn smk will shoot way way out there.
And within any normal range 1200yds will anchor animals.

The US Navy use them for a reason.
