I'm putting together an AR 10 for hunting. Inside 500 yards, mostly under 300 yards. I've done a lot of reloading/shooting etc for bolt guns but never for an AR. I'm looking for someone who can share hornadys recommended data for IMR 4064 and a 165 SST. Also if anyone has used this combo in a gas gun please let me know what you started with. I will most likely be crimping at the cannelure. My following list is this:

165 Hornady SST
IMR 4064 Powder
CCI 200 Primer
Winchester Brass- full length sized using RCBS AR dies

I've used this combo in my bolt gun with a 20" barrel. Tested 42.0-43.5 grains and found a good load at 43.5 gr with no pressure signs. I don't remember where I got this info from when I loaded for the bolt gun but wanted to make sure before I used about the same loads to test that the AR can handle this. I'm afraid I'd beat the gun before knowing its to much.

This is with a Rock River LAR8 in 308 win with a 20" barrel.

Again just looking for a starting point. Even just the data from hornadys book will do I just don't have the book and almost always use Sierra bullets but have these SST's laying here with 8lbs of 4064 and have had good luck on whitetail deer with them in my bolt gun.

Hodgdon is showing 42-46.3gr for 165 Hornady SP. I'm assuming the SST would be about the same. Just keep on the lower end for the AR platform....

Any help is appreciated,
Thank you
