Just discovered the forum, hope to learn and contribute when I can. Recently discovered the beauty of the early Savage pistols, picked up a 1907 .32 and was very impressed with the quality and shoot-ability. I'll be honest, a friend got me into early Colts and was lucky to find a few at good prices, but that is far and few between.
Nothing is "cheap", but the early Savage pistols offer a very good value for somebody to have fun collecting with out going broke. Already picked up the Savage Pistol by Brower which was so well done and has been a great resource.

I also like to target shoot for fun with family and friends, dust off the M1 Garand every so often. Could be persuaded to pick up a Model 99 some day.
