Hi everyone,

I'm a longtime shooter/hunter who stepped away from actively shooting about twenty years ago, but now I'm back into it! I've joined a local shooting club with a 300 yd rifle range and picked up a used Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP in .308 Win at the local gunstore. It was missing the scope, but I slapped on a Nikon Prostaff3 3x9 with BDC using a Warne one-piece base and Warne rings. Very impressed with its grouping out to 300 yds using handloads (Hornady AMAX 168 gr, 44.0 gr. Varget, R-P fireformed necksized brass, WW primers). Just target shooting these days, but a buddy (Tikka 3, also .308) and I enjoy going out for a morning or afternoon of shooting, for loonies or beers (afterward, of course! LOL). Forgot how therapeutic -- and fun -- the whole thing is, including the reloading.

Thrilled to find this forum. My little Model 11 gives the pricier Tikka a run for its money. Of course, the problem with the Tikka could be the jerk on the trigger!

Cheers to all here,

Smiling Dave
