Not long ago, I bought (on sale, of course) way too many boxes of trophy bonded bear claws to go with a converted Mauser action .270 that I got in a deal I almost felt guilty doing. After a couple of expensive, hair pulling sighting in sessions, a gunsmith made the diagnosis: terminal rifling in the barrel. No wonder I got such a good deal on the gun. Of course, I couldn't let the rest of those shells go to waste. So, my pocketbook helped me do the research on what was the best value for the money and I lucked up and came away from Academy with a killer deal on a .270 Camo Axis XP. The scope has already been replaced with a barely used Simmons Aetec IR 3.8-12X44 I had in moth balls and now, I'm looking forward to fixin' up my new Axis: Trigger spring clip job; stiffening the flex-0-matic stock, LOP, etc. Just found this forum and it looks like there's a lot of knowledgeable, helpful people here. Hope I can bring something to the party.
