Hi all.
I found this site and am pretty sure you all can answer any questions I have i hope about my old Savage I just got. I am pretty new to this old gun stuff so learning as I go. So far from my research I have figured out it is a Savage model 1899 30/30 as stamped on barrel along with trademark dates. According to the serial number just on bottom in front of trigger it was made in 1909, so a pretty old gun. Wood is all good and nice color. The "blue'ing" of the barrel I think it is called is pretty much gone, but it is in nice shape. Smooth lever action and clean barrel. It has open sights. I will be taking it out later today to fire for the first time as I just recently got it.

The thing that I would like to know is value of course. And also how to determine is everything original. The sights as I look at them, the end sight looks original, but the rear sight looks like it has been replaced seeing as it has the blue'ing almost like new. That appears to be only defect I think. It is a nice short light gun, I like it.

I'll post a couple pictures later. Any thoughts on this rifle?

Thanks Les
