I just found a Leupold Vx 1 rifleman for cheap and decided to replace my basic prostaff 3x 9 with it atop my modified axis 270. i couldn't wait to get out to the a proper range to zero--so I just winged it at a local roadside dump--I did a basic bore sighting to start and the zero target distance was a bit over 50 yds--probably closer to 60. I found a small box and put a piece of cement inside it to hold it steady upright, and it took about 8 shots to "get on paper" but was hampered by the fact the box was smaller than a conventional zeroing target so it was hard to figure where the shots were actually going. The rifleman also has a bit of an odd MOA windage/elevation dial system unlike any other scope I've ever used. Fired Rem core lokt 130 and when I scored at POA it was hard to tell--the bullet went through and completely demolished the cement block while blowing the box to pieces. No doubts about taking a deer with this sucker! : )
