I would say no.
Have a Stevens 410bolt action shotgun is it possible to shoot 45long colt with out any danger please need advice thanks for replies
I would say no.
There are several things wrong with this and you should be able to talk yourself out of it even if someone says yes you can.
Ask yourself, will shooting a 45 Colt bullet down a smooth barrel be accurate at the distance you are wanting to shoot?
Take a .452 bullet and see if it fits in the end of your barrel.
Drop a .452 bullet down the barrel from the breech and see if it comes out the other end or gets stuck along the way.
Do you known that the barrel will handle the pressure?
If something goes wrong, is Stevens going to back you up on this?
Is there anything to gain over shooting a 410 slug designed for this application beside some cost savings?
I think you are asking for big trouble here and I would not attempt it.
I say NO!
You can shoot 410 out of a 45 long colt but not the other way around.
410 is a 41 caliber.
I doubt you will find any 45 Colt chambers long enough to chamber a 2.5 or 3" shell! Would extend well into the rifling. Exceptions are purpose made guns like the taurus judge and NEF handi rifle in 45/410.Originally Posted by thirty06

I had a double barrel pistol a few years back that shot both. That being said you couldn't hit squat with either one.
thanks for the replies i did talk myself out of it,dont know what i was thinking
