What’s the action screw spacing?
Single shot action?
Long action with short cartridge cutout ?
Looking for input on an older model 112 223 heavy barrel I took on trade. I think it was made in the 90's. Looks like it is a long action with a spacer for the 223 round.
Were these older models better than the new 110's?. Valued more than the newer ones?
Trying to decide to keep it for the action or let it go.
Thanks

5 " action screws, blind mag holds 4-5 rounds, long action with a short cartridge cutout?? has spacer for the short rounds. looks like it could be used for long and short rounds.
From 1988 to 1997 ALL Savage 110’s were built on Long Actions. It’s not a question better. It was an attempt by the Savage Talking Heads to standardize the rifles. In other words, they were trying to save a buck! LOL!
That’s a good thing.
Savage made a run where the short action calibers were built on long actions, but on some of them instead of a spacer in the mag box they used a short action mag box and the action was cut short for that. So you end up with a long action that you can’t feed long action cartridges from the mag if you were to swap the barrel.
Not Savages issue cause they dont build them based on future changes and barrel swaps, but those actions aren’t one of the more popular ones for tinkerers. If yours has the full mag box opening then that’s a better one to have.
