I did basically did the same thing. It became a real tack driver. I used the same bolt head and used the standard 6mm BR Foster GO gauge with out moving the extractor.
I have a Model 12 VLP in 243 and am wanting to swap to a Shilen 6Norma BR 28" select match bull barrel. Will I have to change boltheads? Also, which go-gauge will work without removing the extractor? Will the factory laminated stock work with minor fitting? Thanks

Yes the bolt head is the same. You may have to open up the barrel channel depending on the difference in contour.
