Have a safe a great trip.
Buffalo Wy. 10/15/2010 8:30 AM. first morning
Finally loaded some Pics.
He is only 12 1/2 inches but has 5 1/2" cutters and 5 1/2+ bases. I waited for an hour for him to clear the crowd of Antelope he was in. I would not have taken him but his cutters made him a shooter. 220yds (last years was 320yds.) and he dropped in his tracks Win. Featherweight in 250-3000 with 100gr. ballistic tips. This is my third Antelope with this rifle. It is so much fun to shoot. Next year it is going to sport a 24" Krieger in 250-3000.

Good luck!
I was there 3 weeks ago and had a blast.

It's better to shoot for the moon and hit the fencepost than to shoot for the fencepost and hit the ground!
Shot a nice Buck the first morning at 8:30, 220yds with the 250 Savage and 100gr. Ballistic tip-dropped him in his tracks. Only 12 1/2" but 5 1/2" cutters, his cutters made him a shooter. Pics to follow I need some sleep I drove 15hrs. strait thru from Buffalo Wy. home by myself.

Nice!
I've been thinking about building a light, low-recoiling rifle in 250-3000. How far are you comfortable taking a shot at a deer or antelope with this cartridge? Was the 320 yard shot last year taken with the 250 savage?
Congrats on the goat. Thanks for sharing the pic`s.
I was wondering the same thing as guhunter, was the 320yd goat from last year shot with this gun? What powder are you using in it?
The 320yd. shot was with this rifle (250 Savage) with 100gr. Ballistic Tips. and a 22" barrel with a 200yd. zero (speed was around 2850). The problem is that I forgot to record the load and powder but had 50 rounds left over from last year. The load was out of Nosler's latest manual. I plan rebarrel it with a 24" Krieger this winter. It is so much fun to shoot. Dale
Awesome. I think this cartridge will make an great lightweight, low recoil rifle build. I love to have something a little different as well. Sounds like it's no slouch on medium game either.
This years goat was dead before his knees buckled. When I originally built this gun it was for my daugther and she loved shooting it. Now I am the one who gets to enjoy shooting it.
Thanks tenwalker. I have a Mauser actioned 250 Savage that i am going to start loading for when the dies get here. I was planning on using 100gr BT but wasn`t sure what powder to try first. I have IMR 4064, IMR4350 and R22 on hand so.......... My 11yr old is really wanting to shoot it, figure it will be a good gun for him.Originally Posted by tenwalker
I use H4895 in my .250 Sav. With 100gr. Sierra's I can get close to 3000fps w/ no real pressure signs. Works great on Whitetail deer here in NC
