    Hi from UK

Have been shooting smallbore for a few years .
Only started fullbore seriously this year , Covid caused a few problems 🤪 with ranges closing etc .
My first centerfire a Savage 12 Ftr Nra model with adjustable stock .
Have adjusted the trigger pull to 16 oz , avoiding any accutrigger problems .
Furthest shooting with this rifle only 300 yards so far , but can shoot out to 1200 at Bisley .
Very useful joining this forum , I hope to learn more about Savage rifles .

    Thanks!

Would the chamber then be set up for 7.62x51 NATO?

or, is there something special about the throat and freebore?

The UK NRA at Bisley supply the ammunition to competitors at the Imperial TR meeting . If you are in the open class you can use handloads . It's to ensure a level playing field . My Savage is a std 308 .

Not been on here for a while . Shot out to 600 and 900 yds last week . Have fitted a Dolphin stock , prefer it to the laminated stock . Really pleased with my Savage
