Depends on how you treat the barrel - how hot you let it get.
Somewhat of a debate on whether or not the 40 degree AI shoulder helps deflect hot gas against the brass (away or at least, not directly on the throat). Thoughts on this?
Of note, I am a FIRM believer in WS2/Danzac. Proof - 338 RUM that I built my hunting partner. Has just over 1000 rounds down the Rock Creek barrel. Pushing a 300 gr SMK at 2950 fps...and the barrel was just borescoped....looks good to go for another 1000. This barrel has been warm/hot a time or two in the field (yes, we do miss at extended ranges!!! LOL!).
I run a couple 223 AI's rather hard - one is set up to run 75 gr AMax's and another shoots everything. These I use for prairie dogs, so, when multiple targets continue to exist, I keep firing. :)
Built a Super Duece (222 Magnum AI) last fall. Runs 80 gr AMax's at 3150 through a Shilen stainless Select Match. Not many rounds down the tube, but it shoots straight and accurate.
You can coat bullets at home in your tumbler. IMHO, it is WELL worth it based on what that RUM shows and will continue to show. Longest deer to date....late season hunt..... 1868 yards....ONE shot.
