Never done it, but it makes sense if you want to try it. Go for it.
I've cracked a couple of them by the front screw. Has anyone drilled them out slightly and put a sleeve in so the action screw tightens the sleeve to the pillar instead of the plastic guard? I've put metal trigger guards on one of the guns but that seems like an expensive fix.

Mine was cracked and warped so bad- ended up getting a metal guard. You are right tho-pricy to fix something that could've been done at the factory. EVERYTHING else is so good though, I can't complain. On my tupperware stock I'd inserted a "nut-sert" (mind, my gun is older and does not have a pillared rear bolt hole), seemed to work well. You could take a nut-sert and cut it to length with a hacksaw- don't see why tht wouldn't work.
I wonder though, you'll still be "squashing" the plastic guard against something more solid. Hopefully it'll work for you though. Let us know.
