I was looking at barrels to fit target action on model 12, so I end up on http://www.eabco.com/store/products/...O-1836-75.html website where I read this warning : "Threaded to fit any of the Savage 110 and 10 series bolt action centerfire rifles (all except the WSMs and Target actions). " So there must be different thread used on target actions.
Does anyone know who makes drop in barrels for target action?
Thanx.

just about everyone that offers prefit savages, or they should
I thought WSM would use different threading, the rest use standard, but it sounds like target action is threaded differently...
most WSM and target use large shank threads, some of the Rum's/stw's use large shank also, but not all.
I see, so I only have to aim for large shank Savage pre-fit and I'll be fine?
Yep, now you got it. Lots of stuff to learn but once you do it is easy to build these rifles, you will be addicted, just a warning haha
Thanx, something I leared today!! The only other Savage I have is pre-accutriger 111 model chambered for 270, it still has original barrel and still shoots great so had no need to replace anything on it, I like it the way it is. But now I'm planning to get model 12 lrp in 260, so I'm researching options in case 260 wouldn't work for me...
Just a warning. I've tried EABCO barrels and was not impressed with their accuracy. They're a "copper mine" too and take forever to break in. If you want a good barrel, Sinman or Northlander can fix you up.

The WSM and Target (12 series) use a large flange barrel nut. 10s and 110s use the small flange nut. The embedded video shows me swapping a stock barrel for a Criterion in a Savage 10 (short) action. Very, very easy to do yourself.Originally Posted by jinx-)

I'm having very good luck with this Criterion 28" Bull 1:10 twist. I shot at 200, 300 and 600 yesterday at Quantico, VA and had nothing out of the 10 ring. The target was actually too big considering the 200 yd line (MR-63F), was correct for the 300 (MR-63F) and too small for the 600 (MR-65F). Winds were light and I was using Berger 155.5 gr FMJ BTHP stuck into Lapua brass with 44gr Varget.
Wow!!! Thanks, I will definitely give them a try!!! Thanks for the video!!!
BTW, I got that barrel from Jim Briggs right here on the Savage Shooters Forum. He's in the vendor section Northland Shooters Supply.Originally Posted by jinx-)
