    New Rifle help

Just traded with a buddy and got Mod 11 in 7mm 08, Fired it saturday at a hundred yards and touched holes. This thing shoots nice. My question is, I can't seem to find any info on it ? Was this a short run ? Its a brown laminated wood stock. Blue steel Long action ? No floor plate. Any info would be great. I figure I got about 200.00 into it. I own a weather warrior and love the way shoots so I worked out a trade for this one, Just don't know much about the mod. 11 Thanks in advance

not really sure, but who cares if you only got about $200 into it....Lets just say that you did good!!!

    How old is the rifle?
Did your buddy buy it new?

Could be a special run that one of the big box stores did, or could just be that someone replaced the stock.

Can you post a picture of it? You'd need to use a photo sharing website like photobucket to do it.

Would love to see a pic. I'm assembling a 7mm-08 on a model 11 action right now.

    Re: New Rifle help

Apparently that rifle is pre-Accutrigger so you lucked out and got one with a 9.5" twist barrel. It should shoot well.

For a few years after yours was made, Savage started making their 7mm-08 barrels with an 11.5" twist for reasons no one was ever able to determine as Savage refused to answer numerous requests for an explanation. (There are several threads on this subject if you do a search.) The result was the rifles would not stabilize bullets heavier than 140 grains and even these were marginal. I unwittingly bought one of these in 2008 and wound up having SSS rebarrel it.

Savage very recently went back to the 9.5" twist for 7 mm-08 barrels and the stability problems should no longer be a factor.

Found the only flaw today, Pulled action out of stock and noticed the the front hole on the triggerguard. Seems at one time over the years somebody tightened the screw tight without the guard down in the stock the screw pulled through it. I tried Numrich, They do not list one. Any ideas or call Savage ?

If i read that correctly the screw pulled through the trigger guard. Midwayusa or Brownells should be able to supply you with a new one.

Get a steel one from brownells as the plastic ones are real trash.

Looked in Brownells nothing listed for mod 11 ? Are any other models the same ? This is a blind mag well , I no models with a floor plate are different and detachable magazine models. Also did Gunbroker Midway ect. It's not hurting anything the way it is, But I know it's broke
