Will a 223 feed and eject out of a long action staggerfeed rifle ??
Will a 223 feed and eject out of a long action staggerfeed rifle ??
If you block the mag box, change the follower/spring, it should work just like the earlier Savages when they were all built on the long action. My 223 Rem and Ackley is on a long action but I'm using a single shot follower in both so I can long seat 75 and 80 grain bullets.

Did the older mag boxes have longer feedlips, or the same as now ??
Is there a special 223 bolt head and baffle for a long action ??
Seems like I remember the long action spacer or bolt head is different than a short action.
The short rounds on the long action used a short round box mag. The bottom of the action where the mag is located was not opened up to the full length either. The bolt was not affected. I would assume that during that era Savage built 110s chambered for .373" cartridges but it would seem to me a pain to try to convert one. Cheaper just to buy a new Stevens and modify it the way you want.
Sharp Shooter can supply you with the extended baffle and .378" bold head.

.223 Rem AI, .22-250 AI, .220 Swift AI .243 Win AI, .6mm Rem AI, .257 Rob AI, .25-06 AI, 6.5x300wsm .30-06 AI, .270 STW, 7mm STW, 28 nosler, .416 Taylor
Didn't all long action .223 have the short action mag cutout?
I believe you need a different nut for the firing pin and spring assembly. SSS has them. At least I did to use 204 Rogers in a LA center feed.
