Anyone using Sierra 150grn Game Kings in 30-30?

Looking to load some of these in an old Stevens 325C, anyone have any success using these in 30-30?

Should work fine....but also consider the flat nose

I sure do understand trying new things but using a bullet designed for high speed at long range from a .30-30........sounds like a blast. I'm going to be trying some SMK's and Nosler Balistic tips from my lever .30-30 (single load of course) and I hope you try these out and report back.

Tried the first batch today. They did OK, about an inch @ 50 yards.

Mattri, inguring minds want to know?. What is the reason when trying a pointed bullet when using a tube fed magazine in a rifle. If you did find an acceptable grouping load, if you wanted to hunt with it you would have to load one at a time, or two as the one in the magazine wouldn't hurt a thing but to try to load more than one in the magazine would be an accident waiting to happen? The Stevens 325 is a bolt action with a clip.

I have shot them out of my Contender handgun barrel, but only on paper so far. Results have been very good accuracy. I'm still a bit concerned about bullet performance at the slower speeds of the 30-30. I'm not sure how well they will expand at 30-30 velocities. I have read of multiple different hunters using the lighter 125 gr gameking on deer sized critters at 30-30 velocities with very good performance on game.

Just something to think about along with the accuracy issue.

Yeah I have decided to go with the 160gr Hornady FTX. They have been amazingly accurate and should perform well on deer.

I still have some of the Sierras loaded up and will use them for plinking etc.
