Well my internet is going slow at work so it's not letting me upload, basically the space in the barrel channel that's milled out (where the nut for the sling stud is)
So got my new boyds stock in the mail, everything looks good. Noticed in the barrel channel its milled out deep (assuming to save weight). Posting a pic, not my pic but one I found on the net as I'm not home right now.
Should I fill some of that space with bedding material to strengthen it? Just thinking longevity down the road and to help with any possible cracking. It's fairly thin in that area. Anyone do this? Wasn't gonna bed the whole channel, just figured maybe strengthen it up some. Yea, or nay?

For weight savings. Do you need more weight?
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Considering the rifle will be for my boys and wife a little extra wouldn't hurt with recoil, it is lighter than I expected (but not too light)
I had thought about adding some lead to that area :)
Yep, I don't carry anything but a pistol in the field anymore.
So no harm in adding some bedding material there?
As long as the bedding doesn’t touch the barrel or stress it any way, it’s fine. However, I wouldn’t expect any kind of benefit from this.
If You want to add stiffness without weight, You could glass a length of carbon fiber tube in there. Drill holes in it for bite.
If You want to add stiffness and weight, You could glass a length of All Thread in there.
I use Pollyester Resin for these jobs. It’s easier and cheaper than Bedding Material.
