The gun you are looking at is a 2011 model.
I find it intersting I would like to get one, and see what it is all about.
Does anyone know the story with the 12LRP target rifle that has shown up on the savage website? Is this a 2011 model? Does anyone have pics?

Sounds interesting
Looks like you get the Target action & accutrigger with a HS Precision stock at a lower price than the F/TR, Palma, and F-class guns in the Target Series. Shorter barrels (26"), highly-desirable calibers for long-range shooting or hunting and NO DARNED PICTURE !!
Here's a pic for ya:

Looks like the LRPV repeater model has been quietly discontinued and resurfaced as this gun. The specs are almost identical other than being blued and available calibers... and it's almost $300 cheaper. Apparently the barrel and the receiver are both chrome-moly which cut the cost some, and they were sitting on a bunch of LRPV/DBM stocks so there ya go.
I'll take two, and I'll need a coupla' cans of desert tan krylon. I take issue with painting a pretty stainless jobbie; but no so much the black thing.
We've got a local shop that does custom Duracoat camo jobs (pretty much zero talent in that department myself); been trying to decide between German flectarn or Campfire camo
The bigger (higher res) picture I have makes it look more like a satin blue on the barrel and receiver, not sure I want to cover that up ;D
