    Converting 223/110 receiver

First, let me apologize it this subject has been covered.

I would like to convert one of the older flat back 110's that was originally made to handle 223. I want to convert this to handle either a short action standard or a long action standard round.
Going to a long action would require milling. More difficult but doable.

My problem is finding the proper old style, staggered feed magbox/follower. I cannot find either a long or a short action mag box and follower. In addition, I cannot find an old style long action standard bolt head with the larger firing pin through hole.

One more question, would a long action mag box properly feed a 308 sized round?

    Any suggestions out there?

Is it a Long Action or Short Action Receiver? At one time, All calibers for Savages were made on Long Action Receivers. Yes, a 308 Win. will function just fine in a Long Action. Many have done this.

As for parts. Here are possibles. But honestly, I would search that site by your rifles Series Letter because there were several different.

Oh, as for the bolt head. I would simply by the correct new bolt head & drill the hole to the proper size firing pin. Or send it to someone like me who will do it for you for No Charge! You get the best fit this way regardless.

Finding a staggered feed style magazine box & follower is very tough to do any more. As far as a stock goes, if you have a long action receiver, you can buy a long action center feed stock and then wood chisel out a little on the front side of the stock inlet for the staggered feed magazine box to fit. The action screw spacing is the same distance apart.
That's what I did when I built my 6.5-06 years ago.

Honestly though, what is the allure of you wanting Staggerfeed? Most want to change to Centerfeed.

Probably because he already has a staggered feed action.
