    Back home

Wife and I meet our son at the Wheeling WV Cabelas store on Saturday. Son is done deer hunting so I got my Encore 257 JDJ rifle and 14 inch Contender in 257 JDJ back. He has finals this week at WVU and will be going to Oklahoma Dec 17 to duck hunt. They have wild boar there so I gave him Contender Carbine with 16 1/4 in 375 JDJ and pistol with 14 inch 375 JDJ. How he shoots a couple hogs with each.

Best of luck to him on the upcoming hunts. I would think that should get it done nicely.

Thx son is a senior at WVU in Morgantown WV and works party time for a farmer. Joe lets son deer hunt on his property and has shot nice 8 point and doe with compound bow. Shot 5 point with 257 JDJ rifle. Son took one of his roommates out and he shot his first deer with 257 JDJ rifle.

Just curious if you load that one a little bit "extra" because its on an Encore frame? What's your load for that one?

I've always been a sucker for a quarter bore for deer.

The 25s are great. I had a 20" Virgin Valley Barrel Chambered by Mike Bellm in 250imp and it was very accurate. Should have held on to it.

Hope he gets into some pigs. That’ll be a great way to top off the hunting season!

Are you giving him his own Encore for a graduation gift?
