    where would bullet impact be?

I just got a new Savage Axis 308 and have a question. I only have 80 yards in my back yard to set my scope right now, I normally set it on a local farm 2 inches high at 100 yards but they have cattle in there for the next several weeks and I wanted to go ahead and get it set. If I had it set at 2 inches high at 100 yards, where would the 80 yard impact be? I am using Fiocchi 165 grain soft point or Hornady American Whitetail 165 grain soft point. Thanks for any help.

Well. Prob close to 2” high.
A normal 2500fps -3k FPS bullet reaches its scopes plane at 100yds or meters if sighted in there, then falls out from there.
Now if zeroed at 25 yds, its peak is 2” high maybe at 80 to 100+. Levels back off zero at 200-280yds and dumps off gravity from there.
Shooting at paper with the same scoped zero at different yardages tells a lot. Data on personal equipment DOPE is your friend.

Well I sighted in at 1.5" high at 80 yards in my back yard yesterday and thought I would be good as my shots are never over 200. Then the owner of my local farm I hunt on calls me and says you can set your rifle the cows won't arrive till Wednesday. So today I go off and walk out 100 yards and sure enough I am right at 2" high at 100 give or take a little. Some landed at 1.5 and some at 2, I ain't real steady anymore and was using a small card table with pillow as rest. Thanks to everyone for your help, I was happy setting at 80 but I know now 80-100 isn't much difference. thanks again.
