    6mm creedmoor vs. 6.5 creedmoor

I’m looking for a caliber for 1000 yard shooting. I know ther are a lot of 6 mm cartridges like the 6Dasher and 6xc. 6.5 lapua and others. I’m considering th e 6 vs 6.5 creedmoor. Any thoughts. Thanks

6.5 - Better ballistics for longer ranges, does not burn out a barrel as fast, still mild recoil. The 6 Creed is the darling for PRS shooting at shorter distances and less recoil.

I guess it depends. Are you going to compete, ie, try shooting in a variety of weather conditions or only shoot for fun on days with less wind?

I'd look through the 1000yd benchrest match results to see if there is any consistency in the top ranks as to caliber.

Me? My next barrel will be a 6BR or 6BRA. I don't compete but I shoot out to 1000yd quite a bit just for fun. Current rifle for that is .308.

In about 3 weeks the ( Original 1000 yd Benchrest Club ) aka known as the Williamsport club will be holding their annual ( World Open ) shoot.
Soon after all the match results will be posted on their website, including cartridge, gun specks, scope type, and the name of the (gunsmith).
Visitors are welcome, and all the information gained is free.
Yes, the 6 mms will be the dominate choice, unless its windy.
If thats the case, then those having a 300 WSM also will be using that.
Many others will be sending all 10 shots downrange in a minit or less.
    I wonder why? lol

Bullet weight and a high BC are your friends in long range competition. Velocity too, but the first two are more important. Start doing your homework with a ballistics calculator and bullet selection chart and you'll soon know where to start looking.

Or just wait for the results of the Williamsport match as Yobuck suggests. Personally, I think doing the research will be of more value to you in the long run as you'll better understand why certain combinations tend to win more trophies.
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.
