A off the shelf federal or black hills 77gn smk feed fine into the hidden mag. As they are loaded “mag length”

    Nothing wrong with savage parts.
    Good to hear.
I will admit, my older fingers have some trouble with blind mags. That's my primary reason to ask about detachable mags.

I don't use the magazines anyway :) Just slide a round in the chamber and shoot. :)

My 12 FV .223 and my 12 FV 6.5mm dropped into their Oryx chassis with no problem.
I never had to touch the recoil lug.
In fact, I am not sure the recoil lug on the two 12 FVs is any different from the recoil lugs on my other 7 Savages.
I changed stocks on two of them and had no problem with them either.

The recoil lug is only a issue when trying to put a standard savage action from a plastic or wood stock into a factory savage accu-stock with the aluminum bedding. The accu stock uses a different recoil lug.
The aftermarket stocks are all made to use the standard recoil lugs. They will also work just fine with the accu stock recoil lugs too. The accu stock lugs are a little bit smaller. You can search for pictures showing the difference.
