I've never encountered the problem your having but, even if the button doesn't work, you may be able to modify it, Definitely worth a try.
So I lost the magazine release button out of my .270 a few months ago. The escutcheon and button both fell out on the same trip to the range. I was able to quickly locate the escutcheon but try as I might I could not locate the button. I've considered making my own button and at one point I located a thread on this forum that actually had the dimensions. Can't seem to find it anymore. I was just going to do some trial and error fabrication but I ran on to this at Brownells:

Looking at it the models it fits seems a bit tricky. My rifle is a left handed, wood stocked, E-series serial number. I've always assumed it was a Model 110CL manufactured between 1982 and 1989. This is not on the list of model choices, although a 110GC, which is listed---is a hardwood stock, magazine fed which my rifle most certainly is.
For $5.99 I'm thinking I'm just going to try and see but I wondered if anyone else has walked the same road and knows?
