    New guy not so old

I have owned Savage rifles for more years than I can remember. I am now in the process of receiving a Model 12 F/TR in 223. Looking for new comments on the rifle as most of the searches take me back a dozen or so years.I am a young 70 year old, retired US Army and retired US post Office mail carrier.Domicile is central Texas. Hometown range is limited to 100 yards, but on the ranch property we lease to another family to run cattle on we have steel targets at 400 yards. Targets are AR 500 at 16", 12", 10", 8", 6", 4", 3", 2" and 1". Since we can't go longer than 400 we decided to just go with smaller targets to make it interesting.
