Hogue stocks get no love
So pillar bedded Hogues can be converted to 4.25” with a few quick mods.
First push out the bottom stud from the front pillar area. It’s not glued in and can easily be pushed out.
Next open up the front pillar with a dremel so there is room for the action screw. Open it about 1/4 to the rear of the stock.
Next replace the front stud but turn it 180 so the offset is towards the rear of the stock.
Starts like this
And looks like this after it’s rotated.
Works great. Would advise that the recoil lug be bedded. With the limited stocks available for 4.25” actions I thought this opened up some options. Only works on pillar bedded stocks.
Hogue stocks get no love
This is a valuable mod that should have gotten a little appreciation from guys that have the 4.25 spacing. I see those guys on other forums all of the time. They don't come here anymore. You are everywhere too but you still come back. We need to change some things to get Savage guys back. Free classifieds maybe.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
Being one of the Mad Tinkerers in this sort of area, I do appreciate
your work and sharing. As for Hogue ?? Their on all my pistols.
Seems Choate got the nod for some of my endeavers years ago,
and thinking about another. MDT had me move away from Choate,
but even MDT gets molested at my bench.....Again, a good piece
of work.
