There are 6 6mm guns/barrels(6br,15" 243 Striker,6/ 284, and three other 243s) in the safe that are very accurate.
If I had to use the 243 it would be with R22 and a 105Amax or the 95 grain Nosler Partition but there are better rounds in the safe like the 6.5x55,6.5/284,7Mag and 30-06 to hunt deer with. Sure the 243 will work (so would a 22lr for that matter-if legal) but prefer the added cushon of error that the bigger rounds deliver in my less than perfect world.

The last load I workedup for a .243 was for a Rem 742-Guess how old I am. Gun had a documented 800 rds thru it, I got almost all the bras with the rifle. It was accurate, I witnessed the owner shoot a flushing wood cock with it! (a young, son of a trapper, AL hunter who grew up in the woods).
100 gr. bullets didn't please me-a crow shooter w/ aRem 700 HB Varmint rifle that has taken crows past 400 yds w/ my loads. After some load/bullet experimentation- Sierra 85gr HPBTs loaded over IMR 4064/Imr4350(per Sierra Manual Copyright 1971) sparked by CCI BR-4 primers got me to sub-moa groups off a good sandbag rest regularly. Granted AL deer are not real big, but I never had to track one either!
For-racinready300ex-just because some 2nd rate gun rags tries to make an issue to spark discussion doesn't mean it will end like you suggested- Here in AL ANY .22 Centerfire or above is legal ! I can't tell you how many deer I've taken with .222 Rem., .223. .22-250, .220 Swift, and don't piss your pants- a.221 Fireball XP-100 handgun! And they didn't run away! Last deer I tracked was doe shot by a female friend's boyfriend using a .300 Weatherby Mag w/ 180 Rem bullets, we found it in a creek almost 75 yds from the greenfield after we loaded the doe I shot in the truck in the tracks she was standing in shot with a .222 50gr. Hornady Vmax Moly!
Tammons, would you mind sharing the powder charge you are using? I promiss to start 5% below you charge if I do decide to try. I only clocked 3050 using barnes 80 gr. TTSX and h4350 from my Rem Model 7. I have a can of Rel 17 laying around I'd like to put to good use.

I would back off 10% for a starting load. Totally different rifle.
I backed off to 45 gr of RL17 for my regular load and running about 3300.
The max load listed on the barnes site is 45.5 gr at 3470.
Thats 92% fill.
You could probably push it more in the winter

The Doe I shot over Thanksgiving weekend with a .243 at 340yrd was very dead after 20yrds skip, hoop, and flop. Complete pass thru and chest cavity was jello.
On RL17 I have read people say its not temperature sensitive, but that is not what I have found.
This summer I was testing my normal 308/208 amax load of48.5 gr and I got a 40-50 fps jump.
It was hot though. The shells were not in the sun.
I tested loads up yo 49.5 gr in 85 DF weather and anything over 48.5 gave me brass flow.
Since I chopped my barrel 3" to 19" I bumped up a charge for the winter to 48.8 and am getting
no brass flow, although the primers are pretty flat.
That is a compressed load so maybe that has something to do with the temp sensitivity.
For 243 and 80 gr TTSX bullets, in a bolt action I would run some test loads up to maybe 46-46.5 grains.
