Ring & Height Reccommendation, Savage Desert Tact and Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50

I'm not exactly sure how I rationalized this to myself but I recently picked up my 2nd 6.5 CM Savage, this one is the 110 Desert Tactical. I'm planning to mate it to an Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50. Any chance anyone has this combo or something close and could make some suggestions for rings and height? And since eye candy always helps, feel free to share pictures too.

Have purchased a set of Burris 420588 to use with that scope on the factory rail. Mocked the scope up with a set of Weaver 00706 WM rings I had and they were to high.

On a rail, most low rings should give you enough clearance. I use low Leupold and Warne rings on Warne bases and my 50mm scopes have enough clearance.

You probably need lows... these are Burris mediums on a 110 tactical with a 5x25x50. It works for me with tall accustock insert, but I could have gotten away with low rings with no problem.....

Rings are going to depend a lot on which base you use. I know everybody and their brother seems to like a "tactical rail" but I find them an encumbrance for the most part. They seem to almost always sit too high (factory EGW) and with the shorter scope tubes of most modern scopes the bell wants to hit the rail before I can get the eye relief where I like it. They also obstruct and minimize the amount of access to the loading/ ejection port.
Personally I much prefer a 2 piece setup, a set of dual dovetails when possible.
Here's a 3-9x50 Burris E1 sitting atop a model 10 precision carbine with the same profile on the action and barrel as a 110DT.
It has a set of steel weaver bases and medium Leupold rifleman rings that I had in a parts box which wound up being a pretty darn good economy setup and has left me with no complaints. Heck I installed them as temporary's a couple of years ago but it's worked so well I forgot to buy a set of dual dovetails for it.

Thanks Sled, that's really close to what I'm working with. I went ahead and went with Seekins low. BHJ, I hadn't even thought about the 20moa rail obstructing the loading/ejection port but I see your point. For now, I think I'm going to leave that stock and try the low rings since this will probably be more of an 80% target, 20% hunting rifle. Thanks guys for all the great feedback.
