First post here. I just acquired a weather warrior in 30-06. This rifle will go to one of my sons/step sons and I want to get it right for one of them. I traded for a NIB Leupy American 3-9x40 so that's the glass I'll use. I don't want to use a rail to mount the scope and much prefer front and rear bases/rings which will allow sufficient eye relief for the leupy scope.
So men, where do I turn. I appreciate your experience and advice.
Thanks Hotsoup
max is probably 300 yards. the young man is just a deer hunter thus far. thanks.
For two piece bases, I would use Burris Tactical Xtreme bases and low or medium rings (Burris Signature Zee rings). This will give you some flexibility in mounting today’s shorter tubed scopes far enough back on a Savage LA to get proper/full scope sight picture.
Warne bases, Burris signature rings. Warne rings are good too. Kinda a toss up on the aesthetics.
Thanks men. I appreciate the responses.
Wow lots of good choices out there when it comes to mounts.
I like Leupold dual dovetails. They turn in solidly andnce they're locked in I dont think there is a more solid setup out there.
Of course a set of the Leupold standard mounts (windage adjustable) is another very good choice.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
I have a hard time recommending anything other than Talley these days. They are just so light and solid and bulletproof. Both rifles I own that wear Talley rings are my two most accurate rifles. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence, but for $50 It's not worth 2nd guessing it either.
I have talleys on a couple model 70s. Will the talleys give sufficient eye relief for the leupy 3-9x40. Thanks
